Arrow: China White and more familiar faces are set to return for second season

It has been revealed that China White (played by Kelly Hu) will return for the second season of Arrow.

The news came at the Television Critics Association press tour in which executive producer Marc Guggenheim said the assassin would return for the second season.

Despite holding back on the finer details, he said: “Kelly Hu is absolutely coming back. She comes back in episode 2. She not only comes back, but we were dead-set on not just bringing back China White, but bringing back China White and showing her in a new way and with a new dimension than just what we did last year.

“There’s no point in bringing her back, just to repeat same-old, same-old. We do one new scene where you go, ‘Ooh! That’s a China White we didn’t see last year”.

At present, China White is the only confirmed character to be returning for the second season, but, other characters will appear, according to Guggenheim.

He said: “Part of the enjoyment of Season 2 for us is how do you combine the old – not the old – but the Season 1 villains with the new Season 2 villains. That’s part of the fun of the show. It’s part of the fun of any superhero show. The superhero mythos, the rogues’ gallery. I think we’ve done a fairly okay job of rounding out his rogues’ gallery, and it’s about building onto that in Season 2”.

John Barrowman will also be back for the second season. “We’ve confirmed that John Barrowman is coming back. We are a show that does flashbacks” the executive producer added.

Kelly Hu of TMNT: She Loves Playing Tough Chicks

By now I’m sure you all realize I’m a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. So, when Nickelodeon offered me the chance to interview another one of the actors involved, I jumped at the chance. Last week, I spoke with Kelly Hu, the voice of Karai, the newest character being brought in for season 2. Kelly has quite the geek cred with appearances on Arrow, Young Justice, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and X-Men 2 under her belt.

GeekMom: Thanks for talking with me today. I’m a huge Turtles fan and an X-Men fan so it’s really cool to get to talk to someone who has experience with both.
Kelly Hu: Yea, am I the only one? I guess I am the only one that’s crossed over into both.

GM: My first question is, were you a fan of the Turtles before accepting the role?
I remember seeing it a bit while I was younger growing up, but I can’t say I was a huge fan per se. I think I might have been a little too old for it. When did it come out exactly? What year?

GM: I was born in 1985, so I remember it in the 90?s, but the first animated series came out in 1987.
I was a teenager in the 80?s. I do remember seeing it around a lot and I did a movie with Ernie Rays Jr. shortly after that called Surf Ninjas.

Exclusive: Interview with Kelly Hu on TMNT, Arrow, Surf Ninjas, Michael Bay and braces

Kelly Hu can be seen in many geek movies and TV shows including X-Men 2 as Lady Deathstrike and CW’s Arrow as China White. She’ll be playing Karai, a teenage ninja, in the new episode of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which airs Friday, Feb. 1, at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. I had the chance to chat with the beautiful Kelly Hu on her favorite Turtle, Michael Bay’s TMNT, Surf Ninjas, Arrow, braces, motion capture, and more.

Nerd Reactor: Hey Kelly, how’s it going?

Kelly Hu: It’s going good. Thank you.

You’re like in a lot of geek projects lately.

You know, I’m kind of a geek. These fantasy stuff is so much more fun. You’re not constricted by reality, and you can go off and do all kinds of crazy things. You can be a superhero, and you can be so much cooler than you actually are.

Castle – 5×12 Death Gone Crazy Stills

Added 6 stills from Kelly’s episode of Castle.  Be sure to catch her this coming Monday!  We will have caps of her guest-starring appearance & maybe video clips :)

‘Castle’ casting scoop: ‘Vampire Diaries’ star Kelly Hu attracts Esposito’s eye

Kelly Hu, who recently battled Stephen Amell’s Oliver as villain China White on “Arrow,” is showing off her fierce side again on “Castle”.

The actress, who also played vampire Pearl on “The Vampire Diaries,” is guesting on “Castle” as Scarlet Jones, the bodyguard to a notorious adult video kingpin named Beau Randolph, Zap2it has learned. Although she failed to stop her client’s murder, Scarlet attracts the attention of Detective Esposito (Jon Huertas).

Hmmm…hopefully for Lanie’s (Tamala Jones) sake his interest is strictly professional. (We haven’t given up on the precinct’s other couple!)

Hu’s episode, “Death Gone Crazy,” is shooting now and is expected to air Jan. 14.
